VOICES OF THE EARTH
Music for Choir & Ensemble

VOICES OF THE EARTH is a collection of choral compositions sharing a common insight: nature is our solace,
inspiration, and responsibility.

From Wendell Berry’s classic masterpiece “Sabbaths” come four settings for choir and cellos giving voice to Berry’s profound connection with land, self and spirit. The music is melodic and earnest, with echoes of early America as is Berry’s almost biblical language and viewpoint.

Earth Requiem is a prayer for planetary rest (requiem) and praise for the beauty, freshness and diversity of all life.

Please visit Eugene's website for more information.

REHEARSALS
Rehearsals will be held in Ellicott City on Wednesday evenings
(6:45-9:15 PM), beginning February 27, 2008.

We are delighted to be rehearsing at

St. Peter's Episcopal Church
3695 Rogers Ave.
Ellicot City, MD, 21043

http://stpetersec.ang-md.org

there is a link for directions from the church website

Binders were mailed to all singers on Friday 2/22/08. If you have not received one please email MTF. Please check your binder when it arrives. You will notice in the Kyrie that there are two pages 10. Sorry about that-please cross one of those pages out--a copying error-my bad. MTF will bring extra copies or pages to rehearsal as needed. Please check to make sure your binder is in order and you have all pages to every score. Learning CDs will be given out at the first rehearsal along with part assignments. Wendy is also placing MP3's of vocal lines up on this website so you can sit at your computer -listen to your part and SING!

OH JOY! Thanks Wendy!! Rehearsals will continue every Wednesday evening right up to the weekend of the concert for a total of eight weeks. Singers are expected to come to rehearsal prepared. Notes/parts will not be "taught” during rehearsal. We will use our time to polish, tune, balance and articulate the repertoire. Of course, difficulties will be reviewed and tricky spots hammered…but the actual notes, and the details of your particular line, etc. should be worked out before rehearsal. If you know in advance that you will miss more than two rehearsals due to travel or other previous commitments –please wait and sign up for a future offering. We'll get started together on the 27th and then we can all dig in and get fhe music in our hearts and souls.

Looking forward to seeing you all! Love, MTF
