Mission Statement To support and collaborate with living composers To support and collaborate with women composers To produce an annual women composer's contest and concert featuring works by living women composers To perform diverse and challenging choral literature for women’s voices To promote concerts supporting environmental awareness and peace Formerly Chestnut Ridge Women's Choir (CRWC), the Jezic Organization is committed to excellence in performing diverse and challenging choral literature for women's voices. Additionally, the organization strives to support and collaborate with living composers and women composers, and to provide concerts of social significance-specifically to produce events supporting peace and enviromental awareness. Founded in 1998 by Margie T. Farmer, the choir continues in its
tenth season to serve and enrich the community through performances featuring living composers and women composers, performing works by and with these contemporary composers in concert settings in the Baltimore/ Washington DC area and beyond. The creative programming combined with distinguished artistry allow Jezic to offer unique concerts to the communities they serve. The Jezic Ensemble also provides musical outreach to underserved areas such as schools, community centers, hospitals and retirement homes. The choir encourages and supports the future development of female vocal ensemble performance by providing a venue for innovation in choral composition for female voices and a supportive environment for collaboration and experimentation with emerging and established artists. It is Ms. Farmer's vision that each distinct concert experience will inspire both performers and audiences to come together within the heart of musical expression. For the past thirty years, Ms. Farmer has created programming, curriculum & artistic opportunities for communities in Maryland and across the United States. As a musician, teacher, choral director, performance arts chair, founding director of this non-profit & also director of Class Acts On Tour (an international booking agency) Margie has a unique combination of experience that inspires this organization. Her background training, comprising classical, folk, & choral music, has launched her career of playing, singing and bringing others to music. In the past ten years, Margie has focused on creating and expanding
the Jezic Ensemble. Performing a variety of programs with guest artists and composers each season and developing interesting community outreach projects has been a consuming passion for her. As director of , Class Acts on Tour, she works with and books distinguished talent in the international market. Margie's enthusiasm, her love of music and the excellence of her performing groups has drawn singers from Baltimore, central Maryland, southeastern Pennsylvania, and Northern Virginia to her workshops, specials concerts and choirs. |
